Black Voices
- A Tribute

Caroline Henderson, Barbara Moleko, Karen Mukupa, Nabiha and Iris Gold
pay homage to black female music history in a grand show.

Caroline Henderson has gathered a star-studded ensemble of the most outstanding voices to honour black female singers, composers and musicians.

The set list includes interpretations of Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Sade, Grace Jones, Nina Simone, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, Janelle Monaè and many more.

We have created a show to honour iconic Black Women who made their mark on musical history. We hear their songs. We understand their stories. Their struggles reflect our own. We are excited by the abundance of their ideas. We see ourselves in their stories. We write new chapters. The music gives us a voice. Listen to it.

The Danish Song...

25 years after her solo debut "Cinemataztic" Caroline Henderson publishes her first solo-album in Danish: "Den Danske Sang..." - a story of travelling, and arriving.

When I arrived in Denmark, a brown immigrant from Sweden, with bagage from USA and France, it sparked a curiosity in me. I had embarked on a physical and mental journey, and slowly I took root. Today Denmark is my country, my language, and my culture.

The songs

For Caroline, the music has played an essential role in that process, and she has dived into the treasure trove of traditional Danish songs. From folk songs to classical to Eurovision songs, Caroline has picked the ones that have provided a guiding light on her journey.

Some interpretations are stripped down to a lyrical nordic feeling – others have beats, chorus or a symphony orchestra.
