We have created a show to honour iconic Black Women who made their mark on musical history. We hear their songs. We understand their stories. Their struggles reflect our own. We are excited by the abundance of their ideas. We see ourselves in their stories. We write new chapters. The music gives us a voice. Listen to it.
When I arrived in Denmark, a brown immigrant from Sweden, with bagage from USA and France, it sparked a curiosity in me. I had embarked on a physical and mental journey, and slowly I took root. Today Denmark is my country, my language, and my culture.
For Caroline, the music has played an essential role in that process, and she has dived into the treasure trove of traditional Danish songs. From folk songs to classical to Eurovision songs, Caroline has picked the ones that have provided a guiding light on her journey.
Some interpretations are stripped down to a lyrical nordic feeling – others have beats, chorus or a symphony orchestra.
