August 6 2008:

Caroline Henderson live at Imperial

This spring Caroline Henderson released her 4th jazz album, "No. 8" - her 8. solo album - to rave reviews. Her audience has been very welcoming, too, and in July Caroline received a gold record for selling more than 15.00 copies - almost unheard of for a jazz album in Denmark!

Since the release of "No. 8" Caroline Henderson has been touring Denmark and Europe - her latest concert at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival was completely sold out. Next weekend Caroline will be on stage at Sildajazz at Haugesund International Jazz Festival i Norway.

In the autumn Caroline will be touring Denmark, and in the beginning of 2009 Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Belgium, France, UK, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Brazil and Argentina.

Her only live performance in Copenhagen this autumn will be at

Imperial on Saturday October 11th at 8 pm

The team behind Caroline at this concert is the cream of young Danish jazz musicians: Nikolaj Hess (piano), Anders A C Christensen (bass), Jakob Høyer (percussion), Jonas Berg (keys.), Peter Fuglsang (sax), Mads Hyhne (trombone) and Lars Vissing (trumpet).

March 2008:

New album from Caroline Henderson
- samples - buy album

Album release April 1, 2008
Caroline Henderson’s eighth solo album, “No. 8”, will be released April 1. The CD is a close-up on presence and original interpretation, with Caroline Henderson utilizing all of her great talent in the company of producer and bassist Anders Christensen, pianist Nicolaj Hess and drummer Mikkel Hess. Star arranger Butch Lacey, who has written arrangements for the likes of Sarah Vaughan, is responsible for some of the horn arrangements on “No. 8”, which are performed by Mads Hyhne (trombone), Lars Wissing (trumpet, flugelhorn and more) and Peter Fuglsang (bass clarinet, flute, alto saxophone and more) with skill, beauty - and here and there a touch of gravel and dirt. Backing vocals are provided by Mette “Lax” Lindberg and Marie Fisker.

French release
Caroline Henderson’s music has found large audiences in Denmark and abroad. In recent years she has toured in Asia and Europe. In February 2008, her CD Love or Nothin’ was released to enthusiastic reviews, and Caroline is on the jazz top-20 listings. On March 29, the prestigious Parisian venue New Morning opens its doors to a concert with Caroline Henderson and her band.

Danish Music Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year 2007
In 2007 Caroline Henderson’s album Love or Nothin’ received a Danish Music Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year. Don’t Explain (2003), Made In Europe (2004) and Love or Nothin’ (2007) are meaningful headlines for growing audiences in Denmark and abroad. They are also the titles of Henderson’s jazzy albums, which have followed a string of solo releases starting with Cinemataztic from 1995, produced by Thomas Blachman and Kasper Winding.

Challenges
An untamable curiosity and need of challenge often puts Caroline in situations that take perspective and an open mind. In 2007, having accepted the lead role in the Spanish movie “Tuya Siempre” (which won several awards at this year’s Malaga Film Festival), she found herself forced to learn Spanish. Henderson could also be seen as the car mechanic Snow White in Wikke/Rasmussen’s comedy “Der var engang en dreng (som fik en lillesøster med vinger), and reviewers loved her in a demanding role in Jacob Schokking’s direction of Howard Barker’s Død, død, meget død. She was in the cast of Peter Langdal’s Don Juan at Betty Nansen Theatre.

For the past five years Caroline has been a UNICEF ambassador. Recently she has taken on an ambassadorship for the Danish organic farming association.

Release concert and Danish tour
